Girls’ Golf Feature: Averi Hanna

By John Carmigiano

Senior girls’ golfer Averi Hanna is very serious about her sport.  Just this past week, she shot a 75 at The Elms Division I Sectional to move on to the Districts on Wednesday at the Legends of Massillon District.

The District qualifier trains very hard.  She conditions for an hour about three to four times a week, and plays golf for four to five hours a day almost every day.

“Golf is such a versatile game,” Hanna said.  “You can play alone or with other people.  It teaches you how to adjust when faced with adversity.”

When it comes to favorite athletes, she really gains inspiration from some of the greatest golfers in the world.

“My favorite athletes are Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth,” Hanna said.  “They show how hard work pays off.”

She has enjoyed her time with the girls on the Cloverleaf team, and they have become from near and dear to Averi.

“The girls’ golf team is very close,” Hanna said.  “We are all best friends on and off the course.”

In the little bit of free time that Hanna has outside of golf and school, she can be found enjoying the arts.
