Colts News · CSU Bound: Swimming Qualifies for Districts

The Cloverleaf Swim Team will be moving on to Cleveland State on Friday for their 19th straight appearance at the NE Ohio District Swimming Championships.

At the sectional meet last Friday (hosted by Cloverleaf), the Colts had one of their best sectional meets with 38 out of 42 personal best times set.

The girls will be sending 3 representatives to districts in 4 events.
Lauren Slife finished 10th and 11th in the 200 IM and 100 Fly to qualify  (this is her second straight appearance at districts as she went as a freshman last year).   Maddy Heller will be going her for the second straight year with her 10th place finish in the 100 back.  And senior Chloe Schwanke will be making her first appearance at the district level with a 10th place finish in the 500 free.
The girls 400 Free Relay had their best race of the season dropping over 7 seconds but came up .01 seconds away from qualifying for districts.

Other girls having a great meet were Abby Heller (dropped 2 and 3 seconds in the 100 free and 200 Free), Maddie Timura (8 seconds in the 500 free), Judith Reed (2 seconds in the 100 free) and Diana Rice (2 seconds in the 100 breast).

For the boys, they had a terrific sectional but the young Colts came up short in qualifying for districts.  Leading the way for the Colts  were Kyle Chudzinski (dropped 3 seconds and 8 seconds in the 200 free and 500 free), Kevin Chudzinski (dropped 10 seconds in both the 200 and 500 free), Cooper Hartsel (dropped 15 seconds in the 500 free), Josh Leatherman had PR’s in both the 50 free and 100 back, Landon Morris had a PR in the 100 breast, and Cooper Flora had a PR in the 100 back.  The relay teams also dropped great time and came up just short in the 200 Free relay (.45 seconds) from qualifying to CSU.   Great job boys and excellent season!

Come out and cheer on Lauren, Chloe and Maddy at CSU on Friday as they try to secure a spot in the State Meet.
